Vegan Fish Tacos

Maybe you want to give up meat for the new year, or are trying to decrease your exposure to mercury, or maybe you just want to try an amazing recipe! Well these vegan "fish" tacos will do the trick! Made with chickpeas as the base you will be amazed at the flavor! Give them a try!

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp sesame seed oil
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1 1/2 tsp old bay seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 cup bread crumb for coating dough
  • 1 package Trader Joes Roasted Seaweed Snacks
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil for frying.
  • Lime wedges for topping.

Instructions

  • In your food processor combine sesame oil, 1 can of chickpeas drained, flax seed, Trader Joes seaweed snacks, onion powder, salt, paprika, old bay seasoning. Process into paste.
  • Remove paste from food processor into a medium bowl and add flour, mix the flour in to form your dough.
  • In small saucepan heat vegetable oil to medium low heat. (just hot enough to sizzle the dough)
  • Pull off quarter sized pieces of dough and coat with bread crumbs.
  • Fry for about two minutes on each side, dough should have nicely browned color to it when it is done.
  • Allow pieces to rest on paper towel. 
  • Combine with your favorite fish tacos classics! Slaw, avocado, salsa, lime juice, etc.
