Farm Living in the City
Our lives are pretty hectic, with a baby, toddler, nursing jobs, and crafting for our Etsy business. Sometimes we dream of what we would do if we suddenly found ourselves rich. Most of these dreams center around moving to the country and having a huge garden, watching our kids run, play, and get dirty.
We are blessed in that Jennika’s parents own 40 acres in the country, have a huge garden, and lots of dirt for our kids to play in. We have created a lovely garden in our suburban backyard, but to be able to go to the country and let our kids run, play, and learn about growing form their grandparents is truly special.
The truth is that you don’t have to have 40 acres of farm in order to enjoy the outdoors and learn about nature. Join a co-op, visit your local farms or farmers markets, make a small garden in your backyard with a special corner just for your kids, join a community garden, go on hikes, and go camping and forage for edibles (carefully). There are opportunities all around us and even though we are busy, setting aside time for these activities will help ground you, and will open your kiddos minds to the world around them.

Useful links! I would love to start a community garden in my neighborhood!
It is such a great thing for the whole neighborhood! Really brings the community together around something positive. And provides education opportunities for everyone involved! Best of luck! 🙂
