Double Chocolate Lactation Cookies
Recipe for lactation cookies, double chocolate delicious cookies for breastfeeding mothers! When breastfeeding every mother’s experience will be different. Even baby to baby the difference can be huge! My wife had an amazing experience nursing our first son, he loved to spend time nursing with his mom, almost never struggled, and moms milk was always there for him. Round two with our littlest and it is a different story, for him drinking milk is more of a necessary trouble, he isn’t patient, or persistent and when the milk isn’t there right away he sometimes just gives up.
Having a baby who doesn’t nurse well can be a huge challenge, both emotionally and physically. Fed is obviously best, but expectations play a huge role, when as the mother you choose to breastfeed, and want to fill that need for your baby it can be heartbreaking to feel inadequate. (Truth time, no mom is ever inadequate, raising kids is hard enough without adding social stigma, expectations, and guilt).
There are many things you can do to help your baby nurse, talk to your doctor, see a nursing consultant, stay hydrated, drink coconut water, decrease stress (take a bath, get a massage, do yoga), cut out caffeine, and eating lots of healthy fats, nuts, and grains.
So to be supportive I made these lactation cookies to help out! They are full of oats, nuts, flax seeds, coconut oil, and nutritional yeast to help with milk production and let down.
Try these cookies out! Remember raising kids is hard, breast feeding is hard, you got this though! Whether you solely breastfeed or if you supplement, or if you don’t breastfeed as long as you planned, you are still amazing! Go moms!
